Barclays Premier League for sponsorship reasons will be the twentieth season of the Premier League since its establishment in 1992. The 2011-12 fixtures were announced on 17 June 2011 at 9:00 BST. The season is due to commence on 13 August 2011 & finish on 13 May 2012. Manchester United are the defending champions, having won their 19th league title the earlier season.

A total of twenty teams will contest the league, seventeen returning from the 2010-11 season & promoted from the Footy League Championship. Championship champions Queens Park Rangers & runners-up Norwich City gained automatic promotion. Swansea City were promoted after beating Reading 4-2 to win the Championship play-off final.
